Missouri Rock Supply handles bulk gravel and aggregate delivery across Missouri. The material most Missouri jobs start with is base rock, the 1 inch dense-graded crushed stone and fines that carries driveways, parking pads, shed bases and farm lanes. On the loess and glacial clay till north of the Missouri River, water perches on dense subsoil, so an under-built base shows up fast. Order online by the ton or the yard.
Materials Delivered Across Missouri
Order by the job in front of you. For a driveway or a farm lane, start with Base Rock. It is the standard Missouri base material. Type 7 is the coarser 1-1/2 inch grade of the same family. Topping a compacted base course with Driveway Gravel gives you the wearing surface. Where you want a binding material with fines that compacts hard, Crusher Run does that work.
For drainage and concrete, order washed stone. #57 Limestone is what Missouri quarries call 1 inch clean: washed, with no fines, for French drains, septic fields and concrete aggregate. Drain Rock covers foundation drains, downspout runs and drainage behind walls. #67 Stone and 3/8" Crushed Stone work at smaller washed sizes for drainage beds, pipe bedding and topping over a compacted course.
For patios, walks and beds, Screenings are the fine crushed stone and dust Missouri crews use for paver, flagstone and patio bedding. Walkway Gravel gives paths a finer, walkable surface. RipRap arms creek banks, pond dams, culvert outlets and slopes against storm runoff. Top Soil and Fill Dirt handle lawn prep and raising grade before a base course goes down.
Ground and Climate Across Missouri
Missouri ground changes sharply by area, and the base you build reflects it. In the Northern Missouri glacial plains, silty loess sits over glacial clay till, deepest on the hills and bluffs along the Missouri River, with a tight claypan under the flat prairies of the northeast. Subsoils there are dense and slow to drain, so water perches and a thin base fails. In the West-central plains, clay and silty clay weathered from shale, limestone and sandstone leave dense, slow-draining subsoil under the flatter ground.
The Ozark Plateau runs the other way. Cherty, rocky clay over limestone and dolomite is thin and stony on slopes and ridges, and sinkholes, springs and losing streams are common. Runoff there carries soil and chert off slopes instead of ponding. Along the Missouri and Mississippi river hills, loess on the ridgetops sits over bedrock that shows in the bluffs, and deep silt, sand and clay fill the bottoms. In the Bootheel and Southeast Lowlands, deep river-laid sand, silt and heavy clay lie flat, draining slowly through ditches.
Spring is the wettest season statewide. Clay ground in the north, the west-central plains and the Bootheel stays wet longest, and midwinter freezes hold up work most in northern Missouri. Frost depth is set by local building codes: Kansas City's code uses 36 inches, St. Louis 30 inches and Springfield 24 inches, so the figure runs deepest in northern Missouri and shallowest in the Ozarks and Bootheel. Footing depth comes from the building official, and it is not a base depth.
Where We Deliver in Missouri
Delivery covers the state, from the St. Louis metro and St. Louis County through St. Charles County, Jefferson County and Franklin County, across to Jackson County, Clay County, Platte County and Cass County in the Kansas City metro. In Central Missouri we reach Boone County, and in the southwest, Greene County and Jasper County. The independent city of St. Louis is served along with the rest of the metro.
The same coverage runs through Northwest Missouri, Northeast Missouri, the Ozarks, Southwest Missouri, Southeast Missouri, the Bootheel and the Lead Belt. Rural lanes, farm sites and in-town pads all get the same dump truck delivery to the site. You pick the delivery date at checkout.
How to Order and Size a Load
Order online. Choose your material, then choose a quantity by the ton or by the yard. If you are not sure how much the job takes, size the load with the calculator before you check out. When the quantity looks right, pick a delivery date at checkout, and a dump truck brings it to the site.
One note on ordering: base rock and crusher run are not clean rock. Clean rock means washed stone with no fines, like 1 inch clean or 3/4 inch clean. If you need a compacting, binding course, order base rock or crusher run instead.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about gravel and aggregate delivery in Missouri
Which stone is best for drainage in Missouri?
Use washed stone with no fines. In Missouri that means 1 inch clean, sold as #57 stone, which quarries wash so water moves through it. It suits French drains, septic fields and concrete aggregate. #67 stone and 3/8 inch clean work for smaller drainage beds and pipe bedding. Keep base rock and crusher run out of drainage: both carry fines and hold water rather than passing it.
What do I need to have ready for a bulk delivery?
A clear spot where the dump truck can reach and turn around, and enough room for the pile to be dropped where you want it. Mark any utilities, sprinkler lines or septic components in the drop zone. On clay ground that stays wet in spring, pick a firm approach so the truck does not sink. Pick your delivery date at checkout and have the site ready that day.
What is the best base material for a patio in Missouri?
Base rock is the standard choice: a 1 inch dense-graded crushed stone and fines mix. It compacts into a firm, binding course. Over the top, Screenings bed the pavers or flagstone. On the clay subsoils of the northern and west-central plains, the compacted base matters most, because water perches there.
